Old blog, late posting

Family,

Well summer decided to finally arrive in Wendover Utah, but I really won't try to complain because it is still at least 20 degrees cooler than Arizona, and less humid than So. Cal. Nevertheless and notwithstanding, it still is hot!!, but better than Provo winter cold....brrrr. Well the count down continues with 5 more weeks left at work. Time has gone by so fast here, we will actually miss it! Carli's made some great friends in the ward, and we look forward to going to a real home ward eventually, as much as we love the student ward, having two kids just puts us somewhat out of place. A lot of students have kids but they usually decide to have kids just before they graduate and so they are gone before the kids really grow up. Jordan has had lots of fun playing with the kids of the branch even though they are generally older than him and pick on him. Since he'll be the oldest in our family I'm sure he'll get his revenge on Emmett and future siblings. ;-) Thankfully work picked up for Troy these past two weeks, the previous two weeks have been really slow as Troy's boss Mike hasn't been able to come up with additional work to do while the company awaits the newer version of a software package that will coincide with the project he's been working on. Two weeks ago Troy followed the companies 2 IT workers and learned how to setup a server and run cat 5 cables to all the offices. It was tedious work that oddly enough resulted in lots of cuts on Troy's hands; some of the tools are sharp!!! This past week Troy has been busy helping the other intern with constructing a mezzanine for the warehouse. So Troy has been learning to cut metal and weld beams and supports together. It’s been interesting but really tiring and hot work as all the welding and cutting and grinding has to be done outside in the heat…bleh. The 4th of July wasn't overly exciting as fireworks didn't start until 10 and we didn't want to have Jordan up so late since we had church the following day at 9. Troy did go help cook breakfast for a fundraiser for the scouts and we also bought some sparklers for Jordan to have fun with. This weekend we had a district conference and a new district presidency was called and so the Salt Lake City mission presidency came and gave some wonderful talks on the family. One interesting quote that one of the wives of the mission presidency said was that “when we go to the temple that instead of going through the temple it should go through us”. I thought that was a profound statement in that we should be allowing our trips to the temple to be leaving an impression on us such that we seek to have our lives reflect what we learn in the temple. We hope everyone continues to do well and keep posting. We love to read what everyone is up to and share in the joys of life. Love ya'll!!
Emmett's first solid food eating....it tastes sooooo good!!

Jordan enjoying his first 4th of July sparkler....by the way funny story I was actually asked to show an ID to purchase the very dangerous sparklers, do I really look that young. To top it off both Jordan and Emmett were with me to help me appear even "younger". So everyone the secret to eternal youth is taking your kids with you. ;-)
